Welcome

The Virginia Association of Colleges and Teacher Educators is your organization for development and support in our profession. As teacher educators, we have much to celebrate in terms of the many exemplary ways that we prepare and support teachers in Virginia. From pre-service through veteran teachers, our organization is a key vehicle for advocacy at the local, state, and national levels.

Policy Updates

VACTE partners with many state-level organizations to advance policies and priorities that support preK-12 educators and students. In January 2025, the Virginia Association for Teaching, Learning, and Leading put out a Statement of Readiness regarding potential changes in federal policy and funding that could have an impact on Virginia school communities in the months to come. Read the statement and learn more: Advocacy and Policy.

About Our Organization

The Virginia Association of Colleges and Teacher Educators is an affiliate of two national organizations: the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) and the Association of Teacher Educators (ATE).

AACTE is the leading voice on educator preparation:  where members collaborate to revolutionize education for all learners. AACTE’s member institutions and programs prepare the greatest number of professional educators in the United States and its territories, including teachers, counselors, administrators, and college faculty.

ATE is an organization for individuals who have a professional interest in the preparation and continuing education of teachers and other professionals in the field of education. Members represent public and private schools, colleges and universities, professional associations, learned societies, and government agencies.
