VACTE Awards

VACTE has a long and distinguished history of supporting students, faculty, and partnerships between Virginia schools and Virginia colleges and universities. Award descriptions are below.

  • This award recognizes an outstanding student in an initial licensure preparation program.

Award Criteria:  Nominees are required to be a student fully admitted to and enrolled in a teacher education program leading to initial licensure (undergraduate or graduate), have current or previous experience working with children or young adults, and have demonstrated a high level of scholarship in previous studies (i.e., minimum 3.25 GPA). A representative from each Virginia institution of higher education is asked to nominate a student and provide the program contact information, public or private institution designation, name and contact information for the nominee, the program of study, and a brief statement describing the nominee’s commitment to becoming a teacher.

Nominees are also asked to name one faculty or staff member who has had a significant impact on their education and preparation.
